Amateur Radio Disaster Response

Please be advised that the SOC called 2:45pm (1845UTC) and requested I activate the OHS/GEMA ARES station until 8pm (2400UTC) tonight and from 8am (1200UTC) to 8pm (2400UTC) tomorrow. I have the station covered today. Cecil (KD4ZEM) will be available tomorrow until 2pm (1800UTC).

I need any GEMA Team member who can assist in this activation E-mail me ASAP with their availability for tomorrow (Sept 1st).

Our purpose for the moment is to be available for handling traffic into and out of the affected area. While here, we are to monitor the Disaster Nets and be ready to send out information as requested by SOC staff. Several “high-up” officials have contacted the SOC and asked if they had Amateur Radio contact into the disaster area. This is a great opportunity for us to show how we can respond.
